Visovac
In the middle of the emerald-green waters of Visovac Lake, in the heart of Krka National Park, lies Visovac Island – one of the most special places in the Šibenik region. The combination of peaceful waters, lush greenery, rocky landscapes and centuries-old spiritual heritage creates a truly memorable setting.
Visovac is mentioned in historical records as early as the 14th century, when Augustinian hermits lived on the island. The Franciscans arrived in 1445, and in 1576 they built the Church and Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, which remain at the heart of this remarkable place.
Today, the monastery preserves a valuable library, archive, museum and collections of historical and sacred artefacts, bearing witness to more than five centuries of Franciscan presence.

Roški Waterfall
Roški Slap, the sixth and penultimate waterfall of the Krka River, lies 35.5 km from its source. It stretches for 650 metres, with its highest section reaching 25.5 metres. Its most distinctive feature is the picturesque series of travertine cascades known as the “Necklaces”, while at the end of the barrier, the water plunges like a funnel towards Visovac Lake.
Alongside its natural beauty, Roški Slap is also home to a valuable part of the region’s cultural heritage. Restored watermills, a wool-processing mill and a traditional cloth-washing mill bear witness to the traditional way of life and the economic heritage of the area.
Nearby, Oziđana Pećina Cave preserves the oldest traces of human life in this region, while a small run-of-river hydroelectric power plant was built on the right bank of the Krka River in 1910.
